Cases of CKD (chronic kidney disease) in Norwegian Boxers that have been reported to the Norwegian Boxer Club
The webpage contains all cases of CKD (chronic kidney disease) in Norwegian Boxers that have been reported to the Norwegian Boxer Club. In Norway our policy is to consider all cases of chronic kidney disease in boxers genetic, unless a specific non-hereditary cause can be documented.
This is a policy we have to be pro-active and as safe as possible. Minimum database to make the diagnosis and include the dog in the database is the dogs medical history, clinical findings as well as blood and urine samples from several visits showing a progressive disease. The majority of the cases also have had diagnostic imaging and post – mortem investigations performed. All case histories that have not been straight forward have been evaluated by Reidun Heiene from the Renal Standardization project of WSAVA (World Small Animal Veterinary Association): http://www.wsava.org/educational/renal-standardization-project
Some reported cases have lacking medical histories, but clear evidence of renal disease. These cases can be found in a separate section labeled suspected cases.
The lists is regrettably not complete, as there are several reported cases that lack sufficient medical documentation to be included, and many cases that have not been reported
